Journalism - Writing - Blogging

I write lifestyle features and first-person pieces for magazines and newspapers. I have written for The Sunday Times, the Guardian, Red, Psychologies, Easy Living and The Daily Mail. I write my own blog, From Forty With Love, and blog for The Huffington Post and other sites. Topics I cover include dating, relationships, infertility, childlessness, perfectionism, eating disorders and wellbeing. I am writing a creative non-fiction book, which captures the conversations women of my generation are having about dating, relationships, work-life balance and hitting 40 without having had children. Previously, I worked for 10+ years as a correspondent for Thomson Reuters and the Thomson Reuters Foundation, covering politics, current affairs, natural disasters and general news, including the 7/7 London bombings, the Haitian earthquake and the Asian tsunami. I have appeared on Newsnight, Sky News, ITV Daybreak and Thomson Reuters TV.

Testimonials

"It's a fun, non-threatening way of finding out more about people, what they perceive as their strengths and how that fits into the work that the team does. It's good for getting conversations about strengths going. It would be particularly useful for a new team or a team with new members" - Elizabeth Eyre, Senior Editor, Mind Tools

"Katherine came in and delivered a workshop to my group of 14 students. All of the students have faced challenges at school and as a result, are no longer educated in mainstream education. Despite these potential obstacles, Katherine delivered an engaging and thought-provoking workshop, which led the students to think clearly about their areas of strength and their natural gifts. The Packtypes workshop was a fun way to get the students thinking about the potential they naturally have and I would definitely recommend that other schools try out the workshop. I especially think that the workshop would work really well for staff teams. I was extremely interested in giving the cards a go myself, as was my colleague! Katherine led with confidence, despite the challenging group and has expert knowledge and understanding of the Packtypes programme"
- Naomi Aidoo, Lead Teacher: St David's KS4 Alternative Education Provision

Eating Disorders Workshops

Katherine runs workshops for adolescents and adults on eating disorders and other addictions, body image and perfectionism. She looks at the unhealthy ways many of us use to cope with anxiety, stress or the pressures of school, work, home life or relationships and explores healthy alternatives that she and others have found helpful. By sharing her own story, she creates a safe, open environment for others to explore difficult issues.
